MOHAVE BOB * DESERT LYNX * HIGHLAND LYNX * SNOWBOB
Over the past few years it has become very apparent that most people are not knowledgeable on the differences between a Bobcat and the Desert Lynx breed. In my years of working with the Desert Lynx I can say there is no confirmed Bobcat to cat crosses. While the internet boosts of the sizes of the Desert Lynx to be bigger than the average house cat, and in the past has stated that the Desert Lynx is a Bobcat hybrid, I can say I have not seen one. While the breed is a medium to large breed it does not get the sizes of Bobcats. While I try to breed to resemble a more bobcat look I do not have Bobcats nor do my cats get those sizes. It is my goal to have stocky broad bodied cats with larger thicker legs with broad head pieces and shaggy coats. But most of all I want my kittens to have the wonderful dog like personalities.
To the left you can see a bobcat, and to the right a Desert Lynx that is simular. Notice the nose leather is different, the cheek tuffs as well, the bobcats ear tips are more pointy with tuffs and the cats is more rounded with tuffs. While we do strive to create the look of the bobcats, it is near impossible to get it actually the same.

BREEDER'S START UP/MENTOR PROGRAM |
Very Special Offer For the betterment of the breeds I am offering to help others get started, this could include cats that are not so closely related, mentoring a program so that breeders learn about genetic, pedigrees. I am finding that most breeder do not know the lines behind their cats, nor do they understand how closely their cats are related......inbreeding, line breeding and outcrossing. It is important to know a cats pedigree to know you are not inbreeding. Understanding how to breed with lower inbreeding coefficient to keep the gene pool from becoming bottlenecked. Breeding is a learning process and it helps the breeds when breeders are knowledgeable and know what traits or bloodlines they are offering in their kittens. |
